8 years ago I had a small hobby.
I called friends in Japan on Skype and talked with them. I called these people because I missed my wonderful time in
Japan and I missed talking to the interesting people I had met when I was there. Sometimes I would correct their English. We would laugh about how crazy the English language is. I realized that I truly enjoyed helping my Japanese friends understand. One friend casually mentioned that I could probably charge money because the way I corrected him was so friendly and so helpful and because I made learning so fun and interesting through conversation.
So I did.
At first I only had 4 students. Little by little word got out about me. At the time of this writing, I personally have taught over 1000 classes and have thoroughly loved speaking to each and every one. My students are extremely special to me. Being a bridge between these English learners and the English language has been the joy and love of my life.
I know how hard it is to find a good teacher. I’ve heard your stories of bad teachers who did not care for you or your learning. I never want you to go through that again. I want to be able to give you a choice of excellent teachers based on how I teach: with passion, friendliness, fun and a true desire to see you improve.
Thank you, wonderful students, for thinking about choosing us. I know you have many choices of programs. I am so grateful that we might be a part of your lives.
To Topic-Time’s current students:
Even though I have loved teaching I must focus on my goal of being a bridge to learners. To do this, I am retiring from actually teaching and putting all of my energy into finding more good teachers for our great students (like you). I would like to find teachers who are like me and who have a passion for teaching. I will miss teaching badly but I am confident that I am choosing the right road. As always, I will still be available through email or Skype if you ever need anything.
